Sally Hansen: Insta-Ombre Polishes

*Press Sample

"Create a Dazzling Gradated Look with New Sally Hansen Insta-Ombre Nail Color"

There are eight fun shades in the Insta-Ombre collection and today I will be sharing four of those colors with you.

Copper Cap: "Beige that grows into a warm, copper glow."

Cobalt Coat: "Blue, from barely-there to intense."

Layer on Lilac: "A cool-toned take on purple."

Grey-diant: "A stunningly sparkled fade from light to black."

I wore these polishes with the three coats as instructed, applying the first coat all over, the second from midway and the third on just the tip. Shown without topcoat.

I liked these polishes; although some of the gradients are more dramatic than others, I thought that the size of the glitters was perfect and they all could be wore as a simple glitter topper over a fun base color, or as directed for the gradient effect.

The four colors that I don't have samples of include:

  • Scarlet Spark: "A true red that fades into a whisper."
  • Gold Grade: "Metallic glitter, from quiet to saturated."
  • Fuchsia-Night: "A bright pink with the slightest hint of violet."
  • Jade Fade: "An enviable emerald hue."
Price & Availability: This limited-edition Insta-Ombre collection, SRP $5.99, is available beginning in June 2015 at chain drugstores and mass retailers nationwide.

Sally Hansen: Pearl Crush Polishes

*Press Sample

"Sally Hansen Introduces a New Special Effect: Create a Radient, Iridescent Look with Pearl Crush"

There are eight shades in the Pearl Crush Collection and today I will be sharing four with you; so let's get started.

Oy-ster It Up!: "Aw, shucks - this true white with faceted glitter catches the light beautifully."

Rainbow Fish: "Casting off icy tones, this iridescent blue is quite the catch."

Lady Crab: "No need to pinch yourself - this dreamy hot pink really is as steamy as it gets!"

Silver Scallop: "Reflect on this modern take on metallics - a shape shifting silver that appears constantly in motion."

These swatches are shown with two coats of color and no topcoat.

There are four other colors in the collection that I don't have swatches of; you can find those descriptions below.

  • She Sells: Whether on the seashore or the city streets, this pale blush hue is pretty, pink perfection.
  • Shell & Tell: The secret is out: A lovely lilac like this doesn't come around every day.
  • Mer-Mint: This splashy, soothing seafood green is loaded with sea-inspired shimmer.
  • Clam Digger: This lava-rock black stands out with flecks of phosphorescent-green glitter.
When I received the press release for these shades, I was really interested to see how they would look in person. It's an interesting concept, I just don't really like how it translated into the polish. I wish the glitters were smaller and more "crushed" to create more of a textured polish pearl effect. Also, I wore these without any base color and since they are more iridescent than pigmented, the color differences were very subtle. I think they would probably look cool over base colors to bring out the iridescent shimmers of the polishes.

Price & Availability: This limited-edition Pearl Crush collection, SRP $5.99, is available beginning in June 2015 at chain drugstores and mass retailers nationwide.

The perfectly illuminating shade choice was from Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure Collection. “We used ‘Almost Almond,’ a nude shade lightly dusted with a silver fleck giving it a pearlescent quality,” said Madeline Poole. “I wanted to use something with semi coverage that would act as an illuminator or glow on the nails.”

THE STELLA MCCARTNEY SPRING 2016 COLLECTION

Vibrant energy created by a liberating play on volume and color; a modern interpretation of the masculine and feminine attitude.
Tailoring is clean and fluid. A structured jacket wrapped at the waist. An oxford blue crisp cotton poplin shirtdress with scarf extension envelopes the body creating a new silhouette.
Wild flowers lead a spray of botanical embroidered threadwork into linear structured silhouettes of dresses, a tailored suit and a duchess bomber jacket. An intoxicating collage of pop floral prints are dominated by black and secured by solid bands of fabric to create gentle volumes.
Broderie anglaise is given the tomboy twist. Eyelet threadwork lace embroidery trims are chopped up and placed onto full skirts, rounded dresses melting into gauzy cotton knits and a Noma bag.

A running horse motif spread across delicate fil coupe pieces in shades of flamingo, black, and ivory.
Evening is light and airy.  Free flowing volumes create effortless movement.  Bold shades of peony, pink and sun in billowyparachute slip dress strung together with understated gold hardware threaded through pleated necklines. Open backs and high necks reveal a sense of confidence.
Shoes are influenced by dancing slippers and sport slip-ons. Soft glove alter nappa, floral embroidered satin, tapestry tulips and applique jazz designs enliven uppers while velvety soles are either flat or raised by a prism crystal heel.
A knot bucket bag made from bonded alter nappa and micro suede and a pocket bag with iconic Falabella chain both feature floral and equestrian embellishments. A yellow and black hard box clutch with a plexi knot closure becomes a standout evening bag.

Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer - Queen Lime Rose Zinnia

A while back I won a contest and the prize was a bottle of Queen Lime Rose Zinnia from Julie at Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer and today I have some pictures to share with you.

This polish is described as "a pastel lime green with pink to gold shifting shimmers".

Queen Lime Rose Zinnia is really a pretty green and the shimmer in real life is much more pronounced than what the photographs captured. This shade would be perfect for spring and summer wear.

Zoya Island Fun Collection

*Press Sample

"Ready for an island vacation, these playful creams embody a tropical getaway! They are strong in color to balance the brilliance of summer sun, with a flawless cream formula."

Today I'll be sharing with you the 6 cream shades from the Zoya Island Fun Collection. All photos are shown with two coats of color and topcoat.

Jace (ZP796) - Modern tropical green in a full coverage and densely pigmented cream formula. A green that is more muted than lime and surprisingly wearable.

Cecelia (ZP797) - Classic teal in a full coverage and densely pigmented cream formula.

Talia (ZP798) - True turquoise in full coverage and densely pigmented cream formula.

Serenity (ZP799) - Summer purple in a full coverage and densely pigmented cream formula. Reminiscent of beautiful blooming irises, a harbinger of summer.

Nana (ZP800) - Deep summer fuchsia in a full coverage and densely pigmented  cream formula.

Demetria (ZP801) - A vibrant poppy red in a full coverage and densely pigmented cream formula.

I like how Zoya chose to select bright island colors but didn't go for straight out traditional neon shades. My favorite of the collection is surprisingly Demetria; I usually love the pinks or blues, but this red is definitely my favorite.

Most of the colors had a nice formula and application, however I did run into issues with Cecelia and Talia; they were on the thicker side and Cecelia stained a little bit, but Talia stained a lot (I'm talking I had staining just from swatching it). I know that some girls didn't have this issue so maybe it was just the batch that I was sent of those two shades.

These colors are currently available for purchase at Zoya.com for $9.00.

Which of these shades is your favorite? Will you be picking any of these up for your own collection?

Incoco Tropical Escape Collection - Summer 2015

Bright Colors and Tropical Prints for Bold Summer Nail Art

"Celebrate the return of long days and hot nights with the Incoco Tropical Escape Collection. Whether you're sipping cocktails poolside or jetting off to exotic beachside locales, treat your tips to flawless manicures that pair perfectly with your breezy summer dresses and warm weather favorites."

The Tropical Escape Collection contains 8 fun shades, 4 patterns and 4 bold colors. Today I will be sharing with you 2 of each.  It has been nice weather and since this is a tropical themed collection I decided to take these photos outside; 90 and humid is pretty tropical, wouldn't you say? :-P

Strawberry Daiquiri - A bold, punchy summer pink

Tropical Getaway - A lush design of island leaves

Summer Dream - A cool azure blue

Summer Night - A playful & bright tropical design

I loved the application of these appliqués, as with most of the recent Incoco collections, the "formula" on these was great; the perfect amount of flexibility to give a nice smooth application over the nail. I am not usually a big fan of the solid color appliqués, but I really liked the colors in these ones. (Note: the colors in the solid shades were a bit richer in real life). I would absolutely recommend these for any summer occasion.

Here is some information on the other 4 shades in the collection:

Citrus Punch - Citrus fruit and island scenery
Tequila Sunrise - A sizzling summer coral
Island Adventure - A wild mix of tropical greenery and animal print
Island Song - A bright summer purple
