Plump and Polished - Falling For Nail Art Challenge

Happy Sunday!!!

I don't think that I previously mentioned it, but the cat is out of the bag, I am going to be participating in another nail art challenge, Falling For Nail Art Challenge, being hosted by Ashley of Plump and Polished!

Today's theme is Back To School. I was inspired by school uniforms for my mani.

Plaid is often found in school uniforms and I was inspired to use primary colors for this design as that is also very "back to school". I added some glequins to this look as well to bling it up a bit. Overall now that I look back at it, I may have done something different, like half moons with plaid and then make a white collar or something, lol, but that's a bit creative for my skills haha.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Technique Month - Week 3

TGIF!!! This week has been super busy at work and I loved and hated it. lol, so this weekend is very welcome. The technique that I decided to try for my 3rd Technique this month is.... FRAMED NAILS!

Polishes Used:
-OPI - Nail Envy
-OPI - My Boyfriend Scales Walls
-LA Colors - Gold Glitter
-Glisten & Glow - HK Girl Topcoat

This is a super simple look but it was actually the first time that I tried framed nails. I was inspired by this look from Cristina over at Let Them Have Polish. I used a different set of colors but the theme is very similar. I wore these to work and actually got a ton of compliments. It is something so simple and easy but elegant with the plain colors and glittery outline.

What do you think? Have you tried this technique? I feel like my techniques have been sort of lame/easy and I had wanted to try to push myself to do more freehand nail art with this theme but it just wasn't happening, maybe next week!

Catrice - The Effect Maker

Hello Loves! I am back in action today with a non-press sample post; but weren't all those fall collections fun?!

Anyway, today I am sharing Catrice, The Effect Maker. I saw this online while one of my colleagues and fellow polish lover was in Germany on a work rotation and she was gracious enough to grab me a bottle before she came back! Thanks Meghan :)

I am wearing two coats of The Effect Maker here. I was looking for something super neutral that would be a good pallet cleanser and this seems to be right along those lines. It may not be the best with my skin color, but it is just a really clean look in my opinion. Since it is not really opaque I will be trying this over some undies of other colors in the future!

The application of The Effect Maker was lovely, as has been the experience with all the Catrice polishes that I own. I really wish they were available here at drugstores in the states! Do you own any Catrice polishes? If I am able to get my hands on more, what shades should I pick up?

Tawdry Terrier - Autumn in the Barkshires Collection

Today I am lucky enough to share with you 3 of the shades from the Tawdry Terrier - Autumn in the Barkshires Collection. (You can check out the previous press release here)

Before I show you the swatches, look at the cute packaging!

The polishes inside the boxes are even wrapped in tissue paper that is color coordinated with the shade of polish that you ordered; it is one of the cutest packaging's that I have seen from an indie maker.

Playing In The Leaf Pile:

 

"Playing in the Leaf Pile is an orange glass fleck polish with purple, red, orange, brown, gold, and green glitter inspired by the fun of jumping in a multi-colored pile of autumn leaves."

I am wearing two coats of this shade. It really is a great shade for fall, it screams fall and the glitters look exactly like the fall leaves!

Harvard Hound:

"Harvard Hound is a crimson metallic glass fleck polish with a  mix of red, orange and golden yellow glitter inspired by the color of autumn leaves in the Harvard Yard."

 

 

 

I am wearing 2 coats of polish here. The shade is really lovely for the fall / winter season. The shimmer adds something that my other red glitter mixes don't have!

Pawsome Pines:

"Pawsome Pines is a pine green glass fleck polish with heavy blue and green shimmer inspired by a moonlit stroll through the pine trees."

This was one of my favorite shades from the collection. It is also a great shade to transition from fall to winter as it would be great for Christmas nail art as well!

DIFFERENTdimension - Silenced the Lambs - Halloween Collection

Today I will be sharing with you the Silenced the Lambs DIFFERENTdimension Halloween Collection.



Fall 2013 and Halloween Collection

There are 4 lovely shades in the Halloween Collection.

Good Evening Clarice...:

"A pale lime green linear holographic polish the glows in the dark. Opaque in 2-3 coats but can also be layered over white to increase glow strength"

I decided to layer this over OPI - Alpine Snow. The glow power on this polish is serious! It was super bright, unfortunately I had a hard time capturing it with my nice camera and the first dark picture is with my iphone. I added the second picture since it was sort of creepy, which fits in perfectly with the Halloween Collection theme!

Have The Lambs Stopped Screaming?:

"Different shades, sizes and shapes of traditional Halloween colors (black, white and orange), all set in a clear base with a smattering of holographic dust - Also reminds me of a deconstructed monarch butterfly in a way"

 

 

I decided to layer this shade over China Glaze - Solar Power. The glitter topper was jam packed full of glitters and is absolutely perfect for Halloween.

It Rubs The Lotion On Its Skin:

 

"A blackened texture polish with bursts of orange peeking out. Perfect for Halloween and also looks amazing with topcoat"

I am wearing 2 coats of this shade. It is not as textured as some of the mainstream textured polishes such as OPI or JulieG but it has a nice effect, it also dried to a sort of "leather finish" which I found interesting. I have pictures without and with topcoat and both create a great look. This would have been perfect for me in High School as my HS colors were black and orange!

I Ate His Liver With Some Fava Beans and A Nice Chianti:

 

"Different shaded green, purple and black with some holographic dust for added effect in a clear base. Would look great over an array of colors"

I am wearing 1 coat of the glitter over China Glaze Highlight of My Summer. This glitter is jam packed but not gloopy at all, it had great application.
