Introducing 12 New Nail Shades Inspired by “The Giver”

“Colour Your Destiny” with the bright colors and rich textures of China Glaze®’s exclusive The Giver nail polish collection.  Inspired by the most anticipated movie release of the summer, the collection combines bold and neutral crèmes, and a gorgeous glitter to create 12 limited edition shades.

Influenced by the powerful themes and message of the story, The Giver collection by China Glaze® brings key moments and characters to colour, particularly the main character Jonas (Brendon Thwaites) and his friend Fiona (Odeya Rush) as he struggles to understand the dark, complex secrets behind his seemingly ideal community.

·         Community – Brown crème

·         Five Rules – Clay crème

Additionally, an electronic version will be prominently featured on a billboard in New York City’s Times Square July-September.  The film will open in theatres August 15, 2014.

Twinsie Tuesday: Interlocking Design

As you know, yesterday my husband had his birthday and we went to the amusement park; it was high 60's low 70's for the temp and cloudy; the park wasn't too crowded and hardly had to wait in any lines, with the exception of one 10 minute shower, it was great!

So onto the look; this week's theme is Interlocking Design. I took a little creative freedom with this one, I'm sure if it's technically "interlocking" but it's close enough! It was inspired by @lilmissnails_ on Instagram, who was inspired by @nailedthepolish.

Polished Used:
-Seche - Keep It You
-Seche - Conquer The World
-Hard Candy - Matte-ly In Love

I love how simple this look was to create, and the colors sort of remind of watermelons or something. I think it may sort of qualify for interlocking right? The only thing that I didn't like was that I ended up putting a matte topcoat on it; also I waited what felt like 20 minutes and it still smudged up when I applied it.

I can't wait to see what the other ladies have come up with!

Salon Perfect: Neon Pop Collection Swatches & Revew - Part 3

Happy Monday! Before we get into the look, today is my husbands birthday (HBD Rob!), we are taking the day off of work to go to the local amusement park - so hopefully the weather holds out!

With this look I am wrapping up the review of the Salon Perfect Neon Pop Collection polishes that I received.

Left to Right: Plum Sorbet, Bermuda Baby, Flamingo Flair

Instead of some straight up swatches I decided to do a splatter mani to show them off!

I'm loving this look! The white is Salon Perfect Sugar Cube and once I "splattered" on the neons I topped off this look with Salon Perfect Crystal Clear. I didn't want to take this off when I did but I had other looks to do, so I only kept it on for a couple of hours. I will probably re-do it at sometime. Also, I love the purplish shade that the blue over the pink creates!

These polishes are currently available at Wal-Mart, retailing for $3.98/each.

What do you think? Are you loving this look as much as I am?

Incoco Real Nail Polish Appliques - Bonfire Nights

Last week I showed you one of the appliques from the Incoco Tribal Beats Collection, and today I'm sharing with you another awesome pattern, Bonfire Nights.

Bonfire Nights: The rich colors in this tribal design create a welcoming, but confident look.

This look is the same color palette as the Desert Sunset pattern but the design almost has a "sweater/tribal" feel; is that a thing? It is now! I love how detailed  these strips are; it makes me look like a nail art pro!

Salon Perfect: Neon Pop Collection Swatches & Revew - Part 2

Today I am back with 3 more Neon Pop Collection polishes from Salon Perfect:

L to R: Haute Pink, Loopy Lime, Tickled Pink
For today's look, I put all three colors together into one bright mani:

Lightbox with Nikon Camera; with Flash

Lightbox with iphone Camera; no flash

Lightbox with iphone Camera; with flash

Outdoors with iphone Camera; no flash
I am wearing two coats of the Sugar Cube white polish base, two coats of the neons and a final "Crystal Clear" topcoat. I tried to capture the "neon-ness" of the colors but taking pictures in a couple different lights. It is so crazy how some of the color (I'm looking at you Haute Pink) with different lights - it always seems to be the brightest neons that are the hardest to capture.

Which of these shades is your favorite?

Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired by Nature

This week's Twinsie Tuesday theme is Inspired by Nature. I wasn't 100% sure what to do for this theme, I had a couple ideas but nothing I was in love with, so I turned to the internet, and found this picture:

Source: https://www.etsy.com/listing/61697293/misty-morning-in-pink-art-print?ref=shop_home_active_1
I liked how misty this nature scene was and the pink was definitely calling my name, so here is my look!

Polishes Used:
-OPI - My Boyfriend Scales Walls
-OPI - Don't Pretzel My Buttons
-OPI - Alpine Snow
-Acrylic Paints

My nails are for sure not an exact re-creation of the photo, but more of an "inspired by". For the most part I like how these turned out but there are some things I would change if I ever re-created them. I think for the most part that I need a thinner brush. The brush that I used for this look is the thinnest that I have and sometimes it still seems too thick.

Overally, I'm happy with this look and I hope you can all see my inspiration; make sure to see the other ladies "Inspired by Nature" looks:

Incoco Real Nail Polish Appliques - Desert Sunset

Incoco recently launched their Tribal Beats Collection for summer, and today I will be sharing with you the Desert Sunset pattern.

Desert Sunset: Drive into the sunset with this mix and match tribal nail design with a crème finish.

This was my first time using the appliques since I rounded off my nails; I know it sounds silly but I was worried that for some reason I wouldn't be able to apply the appliques as well, but I don't know what I was thinking, these were just as easy to apply as always. You know I love the Incoco appliques because they are made out of real nail polish.

I thought that this pattern was very on trend since Tribal prints are still really popular, my husband said it sort of reminded him of Easter egg patterns. LOL. Anyway, I really liked these and can't wait to share with you some of the other patterned appliques from the Tribal Beats Collection.

Salon Perfect: Neon Pop Collection Swatches & Revew - Part 1

Happy Sunday lovelies! I was recently sent 9 of the new 12 Neon Pop Collection shades and today I will be sharing with you 3 of those colors.

L to R: Yowza Yellow, Traffic Cone and Fired Up Fuchsia

This collection also comes with a white "base" coat to make the neons pop called "Sugar Cube" and a clear top coat to give them a shiny look to give you options (as they dry to natural matte finish), called "Crystal Clear".

For this post I have a couple different camera / lighting set-ups to try to capture all the neon goodness of these shades.

Yowza Yellow: A Highlighter Yellow

Traditional Lighting Set Up (Nikon Camera & Lightbox)
This is definitely a "highlighter yellow" as described, and I love that they named it YOWZA yellow, lol. It really matches perfectly with how crazy and bright this color is. I am wearing one coat of color, over two coats of the base with topcoat.

Traditional Lighting Set Up (Nikon Camera & Lightbox)

Traffic Cone: A Neon Orange

Traditional Lighting Set Up (Nikon Camera & Lightbox)
This shade was the hardest of the shades that I am sharing today to capture on camera. It really is just a super bright neon orange. I am wearing one coat of color, over two coats of the base topped with topcoat.

Traditional Lighting Set Up (Nikon Camera & Lightbox)

I-phone camera in lightbox; no flash

I-phone camera outside; no flash

I-phone camera indoors; no flash
Fired Up Fuchsia: A Flashy Fuchsia Shimmer

Traditional Lighting Set Up (Nikon Camera & Lightbox)
In these first two pictures, the shimmer is really prominent, I would say it's silvery blue shimmer, which always looks awesome with these bright Fuchsia colors. I am wearing two coats of base, one coat of color and topcoat.

So there you have it, the first 3 shades of the collection. I will be sharing with you the other 6 that I was sent in the next couple of days so keep an eye out.

Out of these three, which was your favorite?

These shades launched in July as part of a limited edition promotion between Salon Perfect and Walmart. Individual shades retail for $3.98.
