Pastel Rainbow Nails

I recently created some nails and submitted them for the Pastel Rainbow collage that was put together by Nails Like Lace & Peace, Love & Polish on Instagram. I did these nails around Easter so it was perfect for the season.

Polishes Used:
-Nails Inc - Bruton Lane (thumb)
-MiniLuxe - Corey (pointer)
-Precision Nail Lacquer - On Cloud 9 (middle)
-Precision Nail Lacquer - McDreamy (ring)
-Precision Nail Lacquer - Walking On Air (pinky)

I thought that this was a really fun look. I don't normally do looks where you can see my bare nail underneath, but I have been seeing a lot of "cutout" manis and figured I might as well try one, and it definitely wasn't as bad as I thought. (I don't like how stained my natural nails can be sometimes which is why I was hesitant)

What do you think of this look? Would you try something like this on your own nails?

Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired by your Hometown

This Tuesday's theme for the Twinsies is Inspired by your Hometown. If you have followed my blog for any amount of time, you know that I live in Pittsburgh, PA and that it's pretty much the best town there is :) I do Pittsburgh themed mani's all the time so I had no trouble pulling out some black and yellow and doing another.

Polishes Used:
-Zoya - Pippa
-MASH - Black
-Kiss - Silver Glitter
-Bundle Monster - BM-212

The Pittsburgh colors are black and yellow so I decided to run with that. I originally wanted to do something with a silhouette of a bridge against a yellow background, but by the time I got around to doing these on Sunday, I had already spend the day outside doing yard work and was sort of tired so I ended up going with stamping instead of trying to freehand a bridge. As you know, Pippa is the pretty much the best Pittsburgh yellow, so I had to use that for my base.

You can take a look at some of my other Pittsburgh themed looks HERE.

Make sure to see the other Twinsie's hometown looks and learn a little more about them while you're at it.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Music/Movies/TV - Week 4

I was sitting on my couch Saturday morning thinking about what I should do for my final NCC look this month. I seriously watch way too much TV. We have the TV on all the time in house whether we are really watching it or not (bad, I know). So as I was sitting there I was watching My Cat from Hell. Although I don't watch this particular show too often, I do watch Animal Planet often.

Polishes Used:
-Orly - White Tips
-Zoya - Flynn
-Animal Love Nail Decorations

So, I decided to do something cat inspired. If you follow me on Instagram you know that I am a dog lover, I follow dog accounts, post pictures of my dog and just love the canines in general. BUT, I also like cats, just not as much :-P. However, two weeks ago when I saw these adorable cat stickers at FiveBelow I knew I had to pick them up. And there you have it, everything came together for this super cute 4th and final look in the NCC, Music/Movies/TV theme.

I am also excited for next month's theme (the one I voted for was the winner...) so make sure you stick around.

Also, check out the other ladies final April looks:

Don't forget, we are still accepting new members! If you are interested in joining and can commit to 4 mani's a month, then we want you! E-mail me with your blog link :)

Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer - Carina

I recently was lucky enough to win an opportunity to create a custom polish with Julie of Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer. I was excited and slightly nervous about the opportunity. I am not super creative and usually stick to pretty standard color combinations, black and white, pink and green, etc. As you know I have been loving creams and shimmers lately so that's what I told Julie. I knew some things, like that I wanted something coral or pink and that it should include some shimmers, she gave me some ideas, listed my shimmer color options, and after a couple back and forths of shooting ideas around, we came up with Carina.

I am wearing two coats of Carina with topcoat in these pictures. This polish has such incredible shimmers in it and I was not able to do them justice. In the last picture I think you can see them the best. The pink base was just what I was looking for and the shimmers are purple and blue, they are so vibrant and pretty in the sun!

Are you wondering about the name Carina? Well, sticking to my non-creative juices I wasn't sure what I wanted the polish to be called, so Julie got me thinking, what are some things that I like outside of nail polish? Astronomy was one of the first things that came to mind, (any astronomy buffs see where I am going with this?) so, Carina is named after the Carina Nebula, which is sometimes described as the pink nebula as it radiates a pinkish glow.

So what do you think? Do you love Carina as much as I do? Make sure you check out Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer on Facebook, as Julie is always hosting giveaway's and maybe next time, you will be the winner of custom polish!

Incoco Real Nail Polish Appliques - Garden Path

TGIF! Seriously though, things have been crazy at work and nice weekend break is definitely in store :)

Today I'm sharing with you another set of spring appliques that I picked up last month from Incoco.

This pattern is called Garden Path and is fun for spring!  I love all the little flowers and the delicate green base. As always you know I love the Incoco Appliques because there are super easy to apply and long lasting.

I was just checking out their site because they have some new shades for spring but I also noticed some really fun bright colored patterns, which would be perfect for someone who wants something fun but doesn't have the freehand nail art skills, and the black and yellow combos... I'm talking to you Pittsburgh girls! :-P

What is your favorite pattern from Incoco?

OPI - Los Cabos Coral

Over the Christmas holiday I purchased a handful of polishes off of one of my friends, including OPI Los Cabos Coral.

I am wearing two coats of Los Cabos Coral with topcoat. It is a lovely pinkish coral shade with a shimmer. This is a pretty shade that I think would look good for both the spring and autumn seasons; and is also a nice shade for work if you can't wear anything too unusual. I believe that this shade came out in 2006 as part of the Mexico Collection. This polish isn't available anymore, but if you like it, keep an eye out for it on ebay, storenvy and blogsales! (I got this one from my friend on Storenvy)

Do you own any of the older OPI shades from the Mexico Collection? Which ones?

Doctor Lacquer - Malicious Pleasure

I recently purchased a polish that I saw on Instagram, Doctor Lacquer - Malicious Pleasure.

Malicious Pleasure is described as, "MALICIOUS PLEASURE is a cold-sensitive cotton candy pink (warm) to salmon pink (cold) thermal linear holographic polish".

I am wearing two coats of color with topcoat in the pictures. So obviously I loved this shade when I saw it, it was pink and coral and light and would be perfect for work, so I had to have it.

To be honest I wasn't really sure what "cold-sensitive" vs "warm-sensitive" ment when it came to thermal, so luckily it was described on the Doctor Lacquer website. Warm-sensitive thermals in this collection have more drastic color change, while the cold-sensitive ones are more gradual. Warm-sensitives in general mean they will change color with body temp, and cold-sensitives mean they will need to be exposed to cold temps like icy water/freezing fingers to change. (Yay for learning something new everyday)

Do you own any Doctor Lacquer polishes? If so, which ones?

Twinsie Tuesday: Matte & Gloss Combo

This week's Twinsie Tuesday theme is Matte & Gloss Combo. I went with something simple.

Polishes Used:
-Sinful Colors - Savage
-Gelous

I felt nostalgic this week and decided to use my first matte polish that I had. I got this when I first started getting into blogging and to be honest, haven't worn it very much since. I went simple for this look with a base of Savage and then dotted on my "gloss", aka Gelous, topcoat.

Unfortunately it's sort of hard to tell in the pictures, and just looks like a wonky flash, but you can take my word for it, it's matte & gloss :-P

Check out how the other ladies incorporated both Matte & Gloss into their looks this week!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Music/Movies/TV - Week 3

Today I am back with my third Nail Challenge Collaborative look for April. Today I was once against inspired by TV. As you know, my husband and I recently binge-watched the entire series of Breaking Bad. It is a really good show, if you haven't seen it, set some time aside and get ready for a Netflix Breaking Bad marathon.

Polishes Used:
-Orly - White Tips
-KB Shimmer - I'd Rather Be With Blue

So if you have seen the show, I hope you know what I was going for here; Blue Meth! I wasn't exactly sure how to create the look so I started with a white base and added blue then did the Saran Wrap method. Once that was done, I added some topcoat and sprinkled on some salt (I was going to use sugar but couldn't find any) and voila.

Does it look reminiscent of blue meth? (form the show, not from real life!)

Don't forget if you are interested in joining the ladies of the Nail Challenge Collaborative, please email me with a link to your blog. You need to be able to commit to posting 4 manis a month, that match the theme of the month.
