The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents: Wallpaper - Look 3

TGIF!! I am so glad that it's Friday; my work week had been crazy so it will be nice for a little break this weekend.

For my third look I decided to do nails inspired by actual walls in my house! (Bonus! Awkward photo by my kitchen wall looking a hot mess hahah)

But let's get back to the nails!

-NYC - Royal Chic

The walls in my kitchen are yellow and another yellow with some crazy brown stripes. I think I did a good job of re-creating these on the nails. They also sort of remind me of crazy banana flavored nails or something.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Stripes - Look 2

TGIF! I'm taking a long weekend this week so leaving work today will feel extra sweet. LOL. I'm back with my second October Stripes look for the Nail Challenge Collaborative. This look was inspired by an abstract scarf that I recently purchased.

Polishes Used:
-OPI - Alpine Snow
-NYC - Black Striping Polish
-KB Shimmer - Low and Be Bold

I really love this look, it looked even better in person too, lol. On the pictures you can see the stripes through the blue but in person I couldn't, but that's OK, it just lends itself to the abstract feel of the look. Also something weird happened in the pictures that make it looks sort of ombre with the blues, it was the same blue the whole time but I sort of love it.

I wish that I could have kept this on longer than I did because it was so fun and the blue really popped against the white background.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Stripes - Look 1

Happy Saturday! I've been slacking with my October Nail Challenge Collaborative looks so today I'm here with my first one. I am not in love with this but I still felt like sharing.

Polishes Used:
-NOPI - Better After Dark
-Rica - Whiteout
-China Glaze - If in Doubt, Surf it Out
-China Glaze - Stoked to be Soaked
-China Glaze - Sun of a Peach

With this look I decided to go with a fall color scheme and have the stripes be the negative. I think this could have looked a little better but definitely had a fall vibe to it. I have some more ideas in mind for the three remaining looks for October so I can't wait to put those together to show you.

OPI Beach Sandies Nail Art

A couple of Friday's ago I arrived home from work to find a mysterious birthday gift waiting for me. The first time this happened to me (around Christmas) it took me a while to figure out who the gift was from, however, this time I knew right away, my friend Amanda! Amanda and I used to work together and were really close when we were working; she has since found a different job, and although we don't get to hang out as much, she's still a good friend, and super sweet for leaving mystery presents on my doorstep!

This package included a Coach wristlet and the OPI Beach Sandies mini set. Coincidentally, I had been eyeing up this set earlier this year when it came out but never ended up picking it up for myself, so it was perfect that she got this for me.

Is anyone surprised that I decided to do a negative space look? LOL. I'm obsessed lately! The colors included in this look (and the set) include, Samba-dy Loves Purple (purple), I'm Brazil Nuts Over You (pink), What's a Little Rain Forest? (blue), and You're So Flippy Floppy (yellow).

These colors are so bright and vibrant and were perfect for creating this fun summer look, especially since they dry to a textured finish. What do you think? Do you own any of these Beach Sandies?

Germany Nails - World Cup Champions

I created these nails in celebration of Germany's win in the FIFA World Cup! I have been following the games very closely; we have a contest going on at work where you can win some really cool prizes. There were over 10k people from the company participating worldwide so unfortunately I didn't win but I did score more points than some of my friends, so at least there is a little bragging rights.

 

These were just something simple that I threw together. I used tape for the middle finger and between the black and red polishes, of course I was too impatient for tape between the red and yellow so I freehanded that part, which is why it doesn't look as good as the rest. From afar this will be a fun look to sport at work!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Recreate Your First 4 Mani's - Look 3

TGIF!!! So glad that it's almost the weekend :) Also, I'm doing a good job and getting these NCC looks completed; so fun re-creating looks you liked and looks you didn't like so much. Today I'm re-creating my third look, one that I loved the first time and still think is a nice simple look now too.

Polishes Used:
-Essie - Absolutely Shore
-Rica - Whiteout
-Essie - Your Hut or Mine

For this look I did use a different base than what I did in the original. This one is a bit lighter which I was feeling since it's the summer time.

As I mentioned before I loved the look then and still think its super cute and very easy, anyone can create.

On a side note I am trying out a new round nail shape after Sarah from Chalkboard Nails told me to just go for it, they'll grow out after all. LOL. I really like them so I'm glad that I went for it.

Twinsie Tuesday: Stripes

This week's Twinsie Tuesday theme is Stripes. I wasn't 100% sure what I was going to do for this look, until this past weekend when I wore a patriotic striped shirt and decided to re-create that pattern but with different colors.

Polishes Used:

-Zoya - Tilda
-China Glaze - Dune Our Thing
-Hard Candy - Matte-ly In Love

The shirt had a nice freehand stripe look which I tried to re-create in this look; not worrying about straight lines, or things being even, it was free-ing and OCD'ing at the same time LOL.

NYC: Show Time Nail Art - Review

I recently received the 3 Show Time Nail Art polishes from NYC. (Original press release HERE) Stripping polishes have been some of my favorite for nail art for years so I was excited to try these out.

I recently saw THIS mani from Nailstorming and knew the Show Time Nail Art polishes were the perfect ones to use to re-create the look (with a couple different colors).

The colors in the collection are Black Ink, Pinkasso and Silverism and are all inspired by Brazil (perfect timing for World Cup!)

This Nailstorming look was easy to create with these polishes, as the brush is nice and thin (but not too thin)

Twinsie Tuesday: Summer Lovin'

Welcome new Twinsie's, Bridget and Jessica!

Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is Summer Lovin'; I wasn't exactly sure what this theme meant so I just did something that reminded me of summer; neon and skin :-P

Granted I don't wear that much neon or show that much skin anymore, but this seemed kind of summery so I went with it. I have been loving these negative space, striping tape looks lately so that's how this look was born.

For the polishes I used Zoya Paz (pinky), Zoya Tobey (pointer), Dear Rus Venor 5 (ring), and Dear Rus Venor 16 (middle).

Layered Stripes - Inspired by MrCandiiPants

Happy Friday!!! I have really been looking forward to the weekends lately! Today I am sharing a look that I created, inspired by the Layered Stripes tutorial from MrCandiiPants. If you haven't seen any of Candice's tutorials you should go check her out, I have tried a couple and she makes her nail art easy to re-create with the tutorials.

So of course I didn't take note of what polishes I used, if you really want to know, just let me and I will go take a look. (sorry!) Of course when I was doing this look I used a really cruddy nail art brush, it seemed to have plastic bristles so this sort of turned into a mashup of her Layered Stripes look and her Abstract Brushstroke look. LOL.

I liked this look, but I really wish the stripes would have been a little more opaque (I don't know if that's even the right word) so you will probably see another version of this look coming up later.

Twinsie Tuesday: Valentines Day Nails

Obviously, today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is Valentine's Day Nails. As you know, I love Valentine's nails so this was perfect.

Polishes Used:
-Sally Hansen - Celeb City
-OPI - Alpine Snow
-Misc. OPI Minis

For this look I created some simple stripes, starting with a base of Celeb City. Once that was dry I added some striping tape and popped on my pinks and white! To add the final touch of Valentine's spirit I added the tiny heart on my ring finger.

I can't wait to see what the other ladies have put together for their Valentine's Nails!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Inspired By A Tutorial - Week 3

Happy Wednesday!

Today I am back with my 3rd installment of the Nail Challenge Collaborative January themed, Inspired by a Tutorial! For this look, I followed a tutorial from Jaunty Juli for Abstract Zig Zag Nail Art (see her video here) This is not the first Jaunty Juli tutorial that I have followed, I did a Halloween look that you can see here if you want. I like watching her videos because she makes all the looks so easy to recreate!

Here is my look:

Polished Used:
-Nailtiques Formula 2 Plus
-Essence - Black is Back
-Assorted Acrylic Paints
-Out The Door

As you can see, I decided to go with bolder colors than what Jaunty Juli originally used  and I think that the colors I selected and perfect for me. (AKA pretty much the best colors out there, black, white, pink and teal lol). This look was really easy to re-create although the striping brush I used was a little larger than the one she did so I simply adjusted the number of lines in the look!

What do you think of this look? I am pretty sure that this is a technique that I will be using for many manis in the future, maybe nude colors to wear to the office even!
