Let It Snow! Challenge - Winter Solstice

This week's Let It Snow! Challenge theme is "Winter Solstice". I was unsure what winter solstice was, I knew it was the first day of winter, but not much more than that. When I looked it up on wiki, it says "The winter solstice is the solstice that occurs in winter. It is the time at which the Sun appears at noon at its lowest altitude above the horizon. [2] In the Northern Hemisphere this is the Southern solstice, the time at which the Sun is at its southernmost point in the sky, which usually occurs on December 21 to 22 each year.[3]

So yeah. lol. The pictures that I found of it were daytime photos with the sun, so I did something inspired by the sun in the sky, but also some stars and moons too. I am not fond of this mani at all, but I just couldn't get inspired. I have been sick since yesterday so the cold is really hitting me hard right now, so let's just blame it on that ;-)

Polishes Used:
-OPI - Nail Envy
-Kleancolor - Blue Pearl
-Liquid Lacquer - Royal Holoness
-Kiss - White
-Finger Paints - Master Muse
-Revlon - Celestial FX
-Gelous

Hmmm. lol. Blue Pearl was sort of a streaky metallic  so I added one thin coat of Royal Holoness to it, and it really gave it a much better look. Also, I don't have an opaque yellow striper, so I had to use white first, then yellow on top. I added the Celestial FX to try and save this one, but I just don't think this was my week.

I am SURE the other ladies did some awesome mani's for this theme, so go check them out!

Let It Snow! Challenge - Inspired by a Christmas Song

Today's theme in the LIS Challenge is inspired by a Christmas Movie/Song/Carol. I always have trouble translating songs and movies into manicures, but I decided to go ahead and get inspired, by the song, "O Christmas Tree".

Polishes Used:
-OPI - Nail Envy
-Kleancolor - Peacock-A-Boo
-Rainbow Polish - Trooper
-Sinful Colors - Snow Me White
-Sinful Colors - Nirvana
-Sinful Colors - Last Chance
-Sally Hansen - Parrot
-OTD

For this manicure, I started with a base color of Peacock-A-Boo, then added Trooper for the "falling snow" look. Next I sponged on Snow Me White for the snow-covered ground. Finally I free-handed the accent nail Christmas Tree with my greens and browns and added a yellow rhinestone for fun.

I actually love how this manicure came out. It looks seriously wintery to me and that exactly what I was going for. Unfortunately, here in Pittsburgh we haven't really been getting any snow yet, must be global warming?

What do you think? Don't forget to check out all of the other lovely manicures inspired by a movie, song or carol.

P.S. Liquid Lacquer is doing a re-stock at her Etsy Store today at 4:00pm EST (that's like right now) and is adding some of the lovelies that I showed you here. So go grab them while they last!

Blue & White Houndstooth

Today I am showing you a mani I wore last week. I sort of consider this a stamping fail, not sure what's up with me (and I don't think its user-error), but I swear, like 1/2 my BM plates the images don't transfer and I don't know why; I have never had that issue with my Konad plates. (End Rant lol)

Anyway, at work we had a "Day of Caring" where all the employees do community service during the day instead of going into the office. I wanted to do something fun because I figured some of the people at my site would really be interested in this, so I went with a shimmery blue with stamping.

Polishes Used:
-OPI - Nail Envy
-Kleancolor - Shining Sea
-Konad - Special White
-Sinful Colors - Snow Me White
-BM-322
-OTD

I started with my pinky using the Konad white polish, but unfortunately, I am getting to the end the bottle so I needed to switch to Sinful Colors Snow Me White. It still works for stamping but doesn't have that 100% opaqueness that the Konad does.

I LOVE this blue, Shining Sea, on it's own, of course I didn't take any pictures of it before I ruined it with stamping but I am sure you will see it again ;-)

Any tips for using my BM plates? Do you think it's user error?
