Here is one look that I created using the blue polka dot bows:

For this look I started with OPI Kiss Me I'm Brazilian as my base color; next I simply applied the bow water decal and topped it off with topcoat. I am loving this look because I think it's super adorable and was SO easy to create!

Born Pretty Store - Water Decal Review

I hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day (if you're a US / Canada) follower, if not, sorry that you had to go back to school/work yesterday. I am back today with a long overdue review of these cute Born Pretty Store water decals.

I believe these are the newer version of the decals that I got because mine were not in color. That's what you get for waiting too long to use them, new and neater stuff comes out, and now I wish I had the colored version lol.

I used these cute decals over a base of OPI - My Boyfriend Scales Walls. These decals are SUPER easy to use, simply cut out your image, submerge in water, place on your nail and voila! I did accidentally "smoosh" some of my images so any errors you see are purely user error, not the fault of the decals themselves.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Around The World - Week 3

TGIF!!! I am so glad it's Friday! One of my co-workers took a new job and this was our first week without her so it was a bit busier than usual. Oh well though, I would MUCH rather be super busy than bored.

This it the 3rd week for the Around The World theme in August NCC. For this mani I decided to do something Mexican inspired, with Sugar Skull Decals!

Polishes Used:
-Sally Hansen - White On
-Sally Hansen - Celeb City
-OPI - (the label came off so I'm not sure... )
-Out The Door

I have had these Sugar Skull decals since at least February and now I am finally getting around to using them! They worked like standard water decals and had easy application. I had a little bit of wrinkles but not really anything that you can tell once I added the topcoat!

Does this look Mexican at all to you? I know the pink and silver are a little girlie, but its girlie Mexican Sugar Skulls lol.

Full Nail Water Decal Review from Born Pretty Store

Hello Loves!

It's time for another Born Pretty Store product review. We all know that BSP has great supplies for all types of Nail Art, and today I chose to use these cute decals.

As you can see, there are 24 different designs to choose from, so I had a hard time selecting which one I wanted to try, but I decided to go for something fun and ended up with these :)

The pattern was really fun, but since it was so busy and colorful, I decided to stick with two accent nails, my other nails are polished with Essie - Borrowed and Blue.

Per the instructions, to use these decals, you need to clean your nails, soak the decals in warm water, slide onto your nail, press flat/smooth out, file away the excess and seal with topcoat. I have to admit, this isn't exactly how I used them. I tried following these instructions, but the decals weren't sticking to my bare nails, so I decided to add a clear base coat and while it was still tacky I slid the decals on. This method worked much better, although the base coat sort of "ate" the decal on my ring finger (as you can see in the last pictures). 

Overall, I like these decals using them "my" way, and will be doing more accent nails with them in the future.

Pros:

-24 different patterns to choose from!

-The decals slid off the paper backing easily when wet and I was able to file off the excess without much work

-The decals could be cut up into stripes and used for accents as well!

Cons:

-The decals didn't work exactly the way the instructions suggested, but as I mentioned above, I was able to solve that problem with a base coat.

-Although there are 24 shades to choose from, none are plain. Now for me, this is not a problem at all, but I know some people like decals or nail shields in plain creme colors.

Let It Snow! Challenge - Valentine's Day

Happy Saturday! Today's theme in Let It Snow! is Valentine's Day. I have been sticking with my Valentine's Day theme since February started so this was no problem for me.

I recently purchased some water decals off of Etsy and had been waiting for a time to try them out; today seemed like the perfect day.

This may sound weird but I am obsessed with handwriting, some people just have PERFECT handwriting and I am in love with it. haha. So I obviously loved the script and look of these decals. They also came with some red hot lips too so you may be seeing some kisses coming up in the future.

OLD SCHOOL Water Decals

During May, one of my co-workers was cleaning out his house and found some water decals from a company that he used to work at. As you will be able to see from the photos, these are circa 1973 (in 1973 my mom was only in High School!). Anyway, I thought it was sweet that he brought these in for me and wanted to try them out right away (at work) which is why the photos are from my desk/iphone. I'll show you the pictures then explain a couple things.

OK, so the first picture is the "back" of the sheet of decals, it lists the instructions for use. It is fairly straight forward, soak in hot water for 10-15 seconds, slide off onto nails that have polish on them, pat dry with a tissue; add topcoat.

The second picture is the "front" of the sheet. The decals come in a handful of different sizes which allowed for use on all nail shapes/sizes.

The third picture is a photo of my nails with a coat of polish (it was in early May while I was in the midst of the challenge and forgot to write down the color - though I know it was one from the OPI Ballet mini set). The decals transfered great and lasted as long as I had on my polish (which was probably only 1 day, but still...) and it came off without any issues, just like "regular" polish.

The final picture of a photo of Amanda's nail. I asked if I could try one of her nail too, she didn't have any polish on at all as a base coat and I wanted to see if having a base coat really effected anything. Low and behold, a couple minutes after we were done and I had applied a topcoat we looked down and BAM, the decal had completly slid around and warped on her nail! It was a fun look, but didn't look anything like my nails, we were dying laughing about it.

I am pretty sure that you cannot get these decals anymore, and they probably aren't "healthy" for you since they were so old, not sure what ingredients were used to create them, but they were a fun way to add some accents to an otherwise super plain mani.
