The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents: Recreate a Member Mani - Look 3

Today I am back with my third Nail Challenge Collaborative look for April. This look was inspired by Victoria (Manicurator) that she created for Holiday Ornament Nails for the Let It Snow Challenge. Take a look at her original here.

I switched up the colors on this look from when Victoria originally used in hers and spaced out the glitters a bit more, but I still loved how fun and super sparkly this look was when I was wearing it. It was actually super sunny on the day that I created these so I took a quick video outside that I may post of Instagram later today.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Skittles - Week 3

For all of my fellow US readers, Happy Memorial Day!

For my third Nail Challenge Collaborative Skittles mani, I decided to do something patriotic for Memorial Day and go Red, White & Blue.

Polishes Used:
-OPI - Red (I don't know the name because it was from a mini bottle -- they should really just put mini labels on those!)
-Orly - White Tips
-China Glaze - I Sea the Point

I am totally in love with this look! I love doing glitter placements like these; I had originally planned on just doing the glitters on the white nails, but I loved them so much that I added the glitters to the rest of my nails as well. In my mind, you can't go wrong with a patriotic look, and add in some glequins and well, you get this :)

Golden Oldie Thursday: Orange

Today's theme in Golden Oldie Thursday is ORANGE! I was never a huge fan of orange, although my high school colors were black and orange and my company's previous color was orange, I never really loved the color; it always just seemed so Halloween-y.

Anyway, that being said, I do have a Go-To Orange, Sinful Colors, Hazard, which I used in this look.

-Born Pretty - Holo Polish 1
-Glequins

I love the look of holographic polish but there are never holographic creams (at least that I know of?) so I love being able to make any shade holographic with my Born Pretty Holo Polish. Color 1 is basically clear so I can top any base color with it. I actually love what this did to Hazard. And speaking of Hazard, the reason that I love it is that it's a bit on the coral side and not so Halloween-y :) Finally, I added the glequins for a littler extra bring.

Nail Art for Nubs Link-Up

First Monday in February? This calls for a Valentine's themed mani on my nubs. :)

For this look, I created a super girly and pretty Valentine's Day look! Now that I know how to do roses I plan to do them often, and what a better time to improve my skills than during the Valentine's Day season. I didn't want to do all roses though so I accented with these light green glequins. I really loved the look of this mani and got lots of compliments on it at work. Surprisingly, all the gentlemen that commented on it, liked the glequin nails more than the roses; lol.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Inspired By A Tutorial - Week 4

Today I am back with my last January Nail Challenge Collaborative mani! I really liked this theme because I finally was able to try some looks that I had been meaning to try out when I saw some of my favorite bloggers creating them :)

This look is inspired by Paulina's Passions Roses Nail Art Tutorial. You can see her tutorial post HERE. In my opinion, Paulina's roses are famous! She loves creating them and they are always absolutely gorgeous!

Although my roses aren't perfect, these are the best that I have ever done so I am so happy with them! Paulina's tutorial was really easy to follow and I also recently got a tiny striper brush in the hopes of improving my nail art skills and I think it may be working; lol. I decided to use oranges and reds against the blue background to change up Paulina's look and create this as my own.

What I Wore (or tried to): New Years Eve Edition

Since New Years Eve was over a week ago, I figured it was about time to show you what I wore on my nails on NYE. Here is the look that I created for the NYE festivities.

-Glequins
-Out The Door

For this look, I started with a base of Elle - Gold 'n Glitz, and then added blue, silver and gold glequins. The individual glitter placement really screams NYE to me as it is probably the number one holiday to be super glittery. However, the more I looked at this mani the more I didn't like it. Each nail was different and I ended up hating that, so before I went to the party, I ended up removing the glequins from my pointer and ring fingers and decided to just go with two blingy accent nails. I kept the rest of my nails with just Gold 'n Glitz and liked the accent nails much better. I even wore that look for the rest of the day on New Years Day too.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Inspired by Art - Week 3

While the prompt, "Inspired by Art" may lead most to think, "Inspired by a painting"; there is so many other types of art out there as well, and today I wanted to capture something a little different. While my look didn't exactly turn out as I had planned, I am in love with the inspiration.

This neat look is called, "Unwoven Light" and is an exhibition which captures light through these structural elements. From the site: Unwoven Light continues Park’s ongoing experimentation with the ephemeral qualities of light and how light affects our perceptions of architectural space. The artist began thinking about her installation by making a site visit to the gallery in July 2012, to experience the built and the natural elements of the space: its proportions and surfaces, and in particular its lighting conditions. Though immaterial, light is a critical structural element in each of Park’s works. Here she has utilized both the gallery’s lighting and the natural light that enters through the front glass wall.

I wanted to create a similar look but of course I didn't have square glequins. Also, I used what I thought were white-ish colored ones which turned out to be pretty much translucent so it looked like I had just smooshed down my basecoat. LOL.

Anyway, this art piece is really cool and I'm a little disappointed in my look, but I do believe that I may try another mani using this piece as inspiration again in the future.

Crumpet's Nail Tarts Christmas Winter Challenge - Holiday Colours

I have really been liking this challenge; it is my only holiday challenge so I am not getting overwhelmed with Christmas themed looks. Today's theme is Holiday Colours, and I am loving the look I came up with.

This was a really simple look to create but it looks very detailed, which is one of my favorite things. I simply painted the base with the white and then added the glequins just freehand with my orange stick. Looks like this remind me of disco balls and I would love to be able to wear something like this to work sometime but I don't have the left hand skills to be able to place the glitter onto my right hand; so it had to go plain. Maybe one of my friends will want me to re-create this look for them for the holidays!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Favorite Color Month - Week 2

I have been so hit or miss with the Nail Challenge Collaborative posts this month. I know I need to get back on a schedule so I will definitely try to do that in December. Also, wanted to say an extra little Thank You to Katee of A Girl and Her Polish who organizes everything for the NCC challenges/facebook group/inlinkz etc.

As I mentioned last week, the colors I chose for the theme is nude and red.

I originally intended to go for sort of a 1920's look with the halfmoons at the bottom in nude and the red tops. However, I used my French tip guides so they sort of look like just half nude half red, lol. So I decided to switch it up a bit and add the gold glequins just to make it a really fun and simple look.

Let It Snow! Challenge - St. Patrick's Day

Today is the LAST THEME in the Let It Snow! Challenge. Luckily, the girls and I will be sticking together and doing monthly themes for a while moving forward.

But back to this week's challenge, it's St. Patrick's Day!

I haven't been doing much "nail art", but I think that the simple look of this mani is really classy. Gold and Green are the quintessential St. Patrick's Day colors in my mind and this look is understated but flashy and fun. My photography didn't want to capture the goodness and complexity of AGAIG though which was slightly disappointing.

I had a lot of fun participating with the regular girls, and some new ones too, for this Let It Snow! Challenge, and hope that you will stick around to see what else comes from The Nail Challenge Collaborative.
