The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents: Spring Flowers - Look 2

TGIF! I love Fridays, and this one is all that much better because it's right before a long weekend with Memorial Day! Woohoo!

-Cheeky Jumbo Plate 2 - Tropical Holiday

I loved these nails!! These feel so summery and tropical, which usually isn't a vibe that I go with my nails, but I just felt like I was ready for a beach vacation with these or something! Also, I don't normally do too many gradients because they aren't my strong suit, but I love how this one turned out! What I loved even more is that I did these on natural nails (as opposed to a white base) and the colors came out much better than I was expecting. Love it.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents: Inspired by Fashion - Look 1

I know we are in the second half of this month, so I am getting a late start, but hoping that I will be able to get in all 4 Nail Challenge Collaborative looks this month. Fingers crossed!

This months theme is Inspired by Fashion, and for my first look I was inspired by THIS pretty skirt.

Polishes Used:
-KBShimmer - Eyes White Open
-KBShimmer - Stonewashed
-KBShimmer - Eclipse

Obviously not as smooth as the gradient in the skirt, but still pretty I think. I actually loved wearing this look; I thought that the colors looked great on my nubs.

Subtle French Gradient

Happy Saturday! Early this week the Twinsie Tuesday ladies did a "Classic" themed look; I picked red, but my second choice was French. So today I'm showing you my second Classic look :-P

Polishes Used:
-OPI - My Vampire Is Buff
-OPI - Alpine Snow

I like this look a lot actually! Although it super subtle I think that's part of the fun of it. I have tried a look like this before in pink and white (which you can see here) and I think I like this one just as much as that one. And going through some of my older pictures, I really like my new nail shape a lot better too!

Twinsie Tuesday: Favorite Holo Polish

It's that time again, Twinsie Tuesday! This week's theme is Favorite Holo Polish. Of course, I couldn't pick just one, so I picked my go-to bold holo polish and an oldie but goodie pretty holo polish.

-Sally Hansen - Ruby Slipper

As you can see, I took advantage of the nice weather yesterday and took these pictures outside, plus I love how the colors pop against the green of outdoors. I LOVE this look a lot, the pictures do not do it justice AT ALL. Even my husband said, "nice gradient". lol.

So I'm loving these polishes and the look, and I can't wait to see what the other ladies have in store for their favorite holo polish!

Twinsie Tuesday: Nails Inspired by Beverage/Food

Welcome newest Twinsie Lisa! Lisa and I are in other challenge groups together so I'm looking forward to having her in the Twinsies!

This week's theme is Nails Inspired by Beverage/Food. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to create for this look, but then I remembered these cute Nail Art Stickers that I had received from Born Pretty Store.

Polishes Used:

-Morgan Taylor - Ahead of the Game
-Precision Nail Lacquer - Enlightenment
-Liquid Lacquer - Pink Lemonade

Ice Cream is one of my favorite summertime treats; just ask my husband, I'm begging him to take me for ice cream almost everyday lol. Since I am not sure great with my freehand painting skills these stickers were perfect. Also, I sort of touched on the beverage part of the theme as well since the glitter topper is called "Pink Lemonade".

A little more about these Nail Art Stickers. There are numerous designs on the sticker sheet which can lead to multiple types of manicures from just one sheet. Twinsie Tuesday: Reader Requested Mani

Back to work after a long weekend, womp womp. LOL. So today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is Reader Requested Mani. I just happened to be at a baby shower a few weeks ago with a friend who follows my blog, and when the soon to be mama opened up a lovely watercolored dress for the baby, my friend immediately turned to me and said, you have to turn this into a mani.

So I ended up doing two different manicures, the first which I didn't like  and then this one, which I did.

Polishes Used:
-Orly - White Tips
-Zoya - Tilda
-Zoya - Ling
-Zoya - Rooney
-Zoya - Wendy

This look doesn't match the dress exactly, but it definitely was inspired by the watercolored pinks, greens and blues of the dress.

So that was the look that I liked, and here is the look that I didn't like.

I used the same polishes for this look, with the addition of Zoya Kitridge. This look was OK but just wasn't what I was going for.

Spring/Summer Pink Gradient

TGIF! This week wasn't too bad though because it was a short work week, that's always fun! We had today off so you can't been that.

I haven't really done much nail art that wasn't related to a challenge or theme so I felt like doing something simple but bright and fun for Spring/Summer.

Polishes Used:
-China Glaze - Neon & On & On
-OPI - A Definite Moust-Have
-Essie - Plumberry

Of course, this look was might brighter in person than it showed up on the camera. This isn't my best gradient ever, lol, but it's not that bad and from far away it looked great:-P

I really started like gradients in the last couple of years, but they aren't anything new; what's your favorite "new" nail trend?

Twinsie Tuesday: Favorite Glitter Topper

It's time for Twinsie Tuesday again; and this week's theme is Favorite Glitter Topper. It took me a while to pick a polish for this prompt because lately I have not been interested in glitter toppers, my heart currently belongs to creams, but finally the perfect topper came to mind.

My favorite glitter topper is Lacquer by Lissa - Yinzer.

Polishes Used:
-Sinful Colors - Unicorn
-Zoya - Pippa
-China Glaze - Solar Power
-Lacquer by Lissa - Yinzer

I think you can see why this is my favorite glitter topper, it's a Pittsburgh polish!!! I love that Lacquer by Lissa is a hometown indie maker, but also in Pittsburgh, Black & Yellow are seasonal all year long! Also, as I have mentioned in the past, Yinzer has nice application and good coverage in just one coat. (The above pictures only show one coat of glitter)

Golden Oldie Thursday: Purple

Today's theme in the Golden Oldie Challenge is PURPLE!

I used to wear more purple than I do now, so I had a couple of polishes to choose from. Ultimately I sort of ran out of time so this look isn't exactly what I had imagined.

Polishes Used:
-Sally Hansen - Lacey Lilac
-China Glaze - Gothic Lolita
-Bonita - Purple
-China Glaze - Snow Globe

I never wear Snow Globe; in fact, this is probably the first time, and as you can see, my camera freaked out. LOL. I was really hoping that the purples would be more dramatic, but it looks like I only used two because the China Glaze and Bonita were too close in shades.

Twinsie Tuesday: Favorite Nail Polish Brand

Today's theme in Twinsie Tuesday is "Favorite Nail Polish Brand". This was an easy one for me, my current favorite brand is OPI!

I love all of the neutral cream polishes that OPI comes out with and am trying to build up my stash of them, so for today's look I used the above four shades.

Polishes Used:
-OPI - Alpine Snow
-OPI - My Vampire is Buff
-OPI - My Very First Knockwurst
-OPI - Skull & Glossbones

I wanted to go for a sort of quilted gradient look. It didn't turn out exactly as I had envisions but I still love it!! It's so delicate and gentle looking and I didn't want to take it off! This was my first attempt at the quilted look, I don't think that mine had enough depth since I covered everything with a  layer of topcoat but it also has a sort of lattice effect which is pretty.

Have you tried this type of look before?

I can't wait to see what the other ladies favorite brands are! I bet there may be a couple who pick OPI as well (I mean, who wouldn't? lol)
