Twinsie Tuesday: Skittles

First of all, I cannot believe that it is already July! This year is flying by; I hate that!

So anyway, this week's Twinsie Tuesday theme is Skittles. I went with a super simple look for this theme because I have to admit, I wasn't feeling very creative.

I went with all red shades to sort of get into the fourth of July spirit; I probably could have / should have gone with red, white and blue but, lol Oh well.

So I didn't do anything amazing with this look but I'm sure the other ladies did, so check them out!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Skittles - Week 4

I'm getting this final look just in the nick of time with 1 day to spare in May. I had been wanting to do this mani since Skittles was announced as the theme for the month.

Source: http://929thebull.com/skittles-trades-green-apple-flavor-for-lime-and-totally-screws-up-the-original-rainbow/

(P.S. I like the article that the image is from - not that I liked Lime but why'd they go changing it to green apple on us)

Literal Skittle Nails! Skittles are one of my favorite candies and I love all flavors of them, my all time most favorite are the tropical skittles that come in the sky blue bag. They don't sell them at all stores, so when I see them I always grab a pack for myself :-P

Polishes Used:
-Orly - White Tips
-Essie - Fishnet Stockings
-Zoya - Pippa
-Zoya - Josie
-Sinful Colors - Hazard
-Wet 'n Wild - Disturbia
-Konad - White
-Hard Candy - Matte-ly In Love

I thought that these nails came out fun and doubled checked with my husband before posting them to see if they were recognizable or not, he said they were so I thought that was good. I don't LOVE the "S"'s that I did, I am never good with curved lines / letting with my current nail art brush, but I think the idea is conveyed.

What do you think about this mani? What about the candy?

Check out what the other ladies did for their fourth and final Skittle Manis!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Skittles - Week 2 - with Born Pretty Store Glitters!

I feel like all I have been doing lately has been swatching! I love swatching but sometimes it's good to get back into the nail art as well, so perfect timing for my second May Nail Challenge Collaborate mani!

I also recently received a few items from Born Pretty Store and included one in this look. 2mm Nail Art Glitter Decoration Sparkling Colorful Diamond Design were used on my ring finger.

Glitter can be found here: http://www.bornprettystore.com/nail-glitter-decoration-sparkling-colorful-diamond-design-p-14390.html

For this look I used two OPI mini pink polishes, Morgan Taylor Sitting Pretty and Orly White Tips. I added the glitters from Born Pretty Store with my orange stick, and I like the look that it created, although next time I will try to be more precise with the glitter placements.

I originally created this look for a baby shower that I was planning to go to since she knew she was having a girl, but I ended up taking it off before the shower. womp womp.

If you're interested in ordering these glitters or anything else from Born Pretty Store, I have a coupon code to share with you! Also, they have free shipping worldwide, and you can't be that.

Don't forget to check out what the other ladies of the Nail Challenge Collaborative created for their second Skittle manicures!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Skittles - Week 1

The May theme for the ladies in the Nail Challenge Collaborative is SKITTLES. I don't wear skittles on a regular basis but it is fun when you're looking for something different every now and then!

Polishes Used:
-Barielle - Designer Shoes
-Orly - White Tips
-Funky Fingers - Sand & Stilettos

When starting out with this look I didn't intend for it to become skittles, I was just going to have a nice simple cream mani. However, I then saw my chevron nail vinyl's, then I remembered the glitter polish that I purchased at 5below earlier in the year and the look turned into this.

My camera didn't want to capture the glitter in the first picture but hopefully you can see it in the rest of them. If not, I will be posting a video of this look on Instagram sometime today where you can see just how blingly it is!

Let's take a look at what the other ladies have created this week:

Pittsburgh Pirates Nails!

Today is the Pittsburgh Pirates home opener! I have pretty much been waiting for this day since baseball season ended last year. Last year was an amazing year for the Pirates, they were probably the most notable baseball story of 2013; and I am hoping they have that same kind of season in 2014 as well!

Unfortunately my husband was not able to take off of work today so I am going with one of my girlfriends who also likes baseball, so should be a fun girls day at the game.

Obviously I HAD to do a mani for the game, and I have to say that this is much bolder than I would normally go for a baseball game but it's a special one, the home opener is pretty much a big tailgate all day until the game so I could go a little crazier than normal.

Polishes Used:
-OPI - Alpine Snow
-Zoya - Pippa
-KB Shimmer - Eclipse
-Cover Band Lacquers - Sticks 'n Stones
-Acrylic Paints

This is pretty much the definition of a skittle mani; lol, which is perfect when you can't decide exactly what to do. Obviously I had to do the obligatory "baseball" nail, threw in the team logo and then did misc nails with the team colors black and yellow! My right hand is even skittled up as well. It is exactly the same as this hand with the exception of my middle finger which is black with a white zig-zag on it (no way I was going to be able to freehand the "P" with my non-dominant hand!)

Overall, I think this look is super fun for the home opener and I anticipate to get a handful of comments throughout the day.

Incase you're interested the game will be airing on ESPN and has a 1:05pm EST start time.

P.S. Non-nail related but, here are some pictures from last season

Golden Oldie Thursday: Skittles

Today I am back with another Golden Oldie Thursday post, and this week's theme is "Skittles"! I love the look of skittle manis, although I myself don't do them too often.

And here is my look!

Polishes Used:
-NYC - Fuchsia Shock Creme
-China Glaze - I'm Not Lion
-Maybelline - Bold Gold

Fuchsia Shock Creme was my favorite pink shade of all time before I got my hands on OPI Kiss Me On My Tulips. It is a similar shade. I decided to go with a gold glittery nail and then a pink and gold stamping nail. The funny thing about the stamping nail is that it is the bicycle image from Cheeky Jumbo plate 3 - European Romance, although my nail was sort of small, so it looks just like wheels. Hahah.

Overall I like this look and the color combination. Don't forget to check out what the other ladies did with their GOT Skittles!

Breast Cancer Awareness Mani

As I am sure everyone is well aware, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. I have not personally been effected by Breast Cancer in my immediate family but I do know a handful of people who have either been personally effected or had a family member battling breast cancer. You can visit the Susan G. Komen site for more information about Breast Cancer.

Polished Used:
-OPI - Nail Envy
-OPI - I Think In Pink
-OPI - Kiss me on my Tulips
-OPI - You Glitter Be Good to Me
-Konad - White
-Gelous
-Out The Door

I don't own the 2013 Breast Cancer duo from OPI but I do own last year's set, which I used on my middle, ring and pinky fingers. I absolutely love this look and I got a lot of compliments on it at work which was a great time to mention BCA; I wore this mani for a couple of days which is quite unusual for me, but I just didn't want to take it off.

Hopefully they find a cure for cancer soon!!!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Around The World - Week 4

Happy Monday! Today I am back with my 4th and final Around the World mani, and I decided to do some free-hand acrylic nail art. I am not very good with my free-hand, and feel like everything looks like a child painted it, like a preschooler, but anyway, I jumped in and tried it anyway.

For this week's inspiration, I used my recent trip to Belgium (which was actually my first time in Europe as well!)

So yeah, not the best with the details but not horrible either I don't think? Practice makes perfect. Anyway, I threw in the last picture collage to explain what the pictures were/represented, but I will explain it here as well. Belgium is know for its world class Chocolate, and it's Beer; I tried a LOT of both during the short time I was there; both were delicious -> those represent my pointer and pinky finger, respectively. My middle finger is showcasing all of the old buildings that I saw when I was there. I was amazing how many old builds from like the 1300 / 1400's were still standing and in use! It's amazing considering the "Old" buildings in the US are from like the 1700's. Finally, I did a gradient with the colors of the Belgian flag on my ring finger.

What do you think? Do you understand my inspirations? And on another topic, have you worked with acrylic paints? If so, do you have any tips?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Stamping Week 4

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!!

Today I am sharing the fourth and final post of May's Nail Challenge Collaborative theme, STAMPING! I decided to go patriotic :)

Polishes Used:
-OPI - My Boyfriend Scales Walls
-Joyful Noise Cosmetics - Star Spangled
-Konad - Red
-Konad - Blue
-Hard Candy Matte Top Coat
-Plate: BM-223

I love the idea of these skittles with different colors in the same stamp, and then an accent nail with glitter!! I knew this would look really cute mattified so I did that, although it unfortunately smudged the red stamping a bit. I still think this is a really cute and super fun mani for Memorial Day!

What are you doing to celebrate?

P.S. Make sure to check out the other ladies from the Nail Challenge Collaborative and their stamping manis!
