Nail Art for Nubs Link-Up

Happy Monday! Turns out we didn't get all the snow that was being predicted, which was good, although it does mean no snow days (not that I get snow days at my job, but still lol).

For today's Nail Art for Nubs mani I created was based off of this set of false nails that I saw on Storenvy.

-China Glaze - Man Hunt
-Sally Hansen - Parrot

For this look I tried my freehand again at an Aztec/tribal look. As always I am never completely happy with my tribals, probably because I see such gorgeous looks by people like Wondrously Polished. Overall, I don't think that these are too bad and I do like the colors together.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Inspired by Art - Week 1

I was really excited for this month's theme, in fact I had been voting for it for a couple months now and it was never getting selected. Of course, because she is so sweet, Katee had a secret vote  / encouraged everyone to agree that December be Inspired by Art and she surprised me! I was so touched! I had wanted Inspired by Art to get out of my comfort zone and try some designs I have never tried before (sometimes I feel like I get into a rut!)

I loved how abstract the artwork is and I think that my mani turned out great actually. I added the blue and green shades with a splatter mani technique and then topped that with some freehand black and white polishes to emulate the artwork. It obviously isn't an exact copy of the art but I think it really captured the spirit of the piece.

I am looking forward to my next mani to see what unique pieces of art are out there and how I can interpret them in my manis!

DIFFERENTdimension Echoes Collection - Time

Happy Wednesday!

Polish #3 today from DIFFERENTdimension is Time:

Missi describes Time as a clear base with grey, black and purple glitters in a variety of shapes and sizes. This polish may require some extra patience in applying and may be best dabbed on. 

I did do a little fishing to get some of the larger glitters out but it honestly didn't require too much work, and as you can see, there really are a lot of different shapes! Very fun. This is one coat over Julep Claire, topped with gelous and Poshe.

Here you can see Time swatched over black and white, shiny and matte (I didn't fish out any purples for the below picture, my bad!).

Do you like polishes with large shaped glitter like this? I think it adds something from to have in your collection.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Pastels Week 2

Happy Friday!

I don't know about everyone else but we have finally been having some warmer weather and it has been putting me into a good mood, even if it just for a short time.

This is my second post in the NCC Pastel theme. I chose to do some stamping with this week's design.

This was a really "springy" mani and it REALLY reminds me of Easter. This stamp is sort of a funky flower design; the only issue with it is that on my smaller nails, like my pinky you can't really tell what the design is.

AIS - Spring Flowers

Today's theme in Adventures in Stamping, is Spring Flowers. This is the perfect spring to transition into the Easter holiday and with the new season upon us. Unfortunately, in Pittsburgh, the weather is still stuck in Winter, but this week's mani is sure to cheer us up.

I decided to do a nice pink base with some iridescent glitters as my base. Stamping with the white polish and accent dots for the flowers was nice and springy but still with some nice pastels as opposed to bring neons. 

Short and sweet!

February Nail Art Challenge - Flowers

Day 5 of the February Nail Art Challenge is "Flowers". I am a day late with this post but I ended up being a little busier than anticipated yesterday.

This looks ok but for some reason, my skin looks really pale! Oh well; I am pale, especially in the winter time. I accidentally used Burgundy Scales for the dark flowers before remembering that it was a crackle polish; haha. Oh well. This isn't my best look, but it will do. 

I will be back tomorrow with some animal print nails :-)

Let It Snow! Challenge - New Years Eve Party Gras!!

The countdown to 2013 has begin, and tonight, my friends and I will be celebrating with "New Years Eve Party Gras; a Mardi Gras Themed NYE". Everyone is encouraged to wear Mardi Gras colors, beads, masks, glitter, etc. It should be a really fun time.

I wanted to do something fun for NYE that matched the theme of the party, so we have my NYE/Mardi Gras nails! I have entered these into Christina from Adventures In Polishland NYE nail contest, so make sure to check out her Facebook page to "like" my nails!

Liquid Lacquer - What Happens In Vegas... (Pic Heavy)

Yesterday I got home from work and I had some amazing nail mail from Melissa of Liquid Lacquer.

I am so lucky to be able to swatch these lovelies. Here was the wonderful collection of polishes that I received.

From Right to Left, we have Secret Clubhouse, What Happens in Vegas..., Damn It's Cold, Cherub, Bitch Fit, You Give Me Fever, Flamin' Flamingo, and Purple Haze. These polishes will soon be available to purchase in Melissa's Etsy shop. 

Also, since it was cute, I am going to throw in a picture of her new business cards too!

So I obviously had no idea where to start with these polishes, so I let my hubby pick! He immediately chose What Happens in Vegas...

What Happens in Vegas... is a lovely multicolored glitter polish in a clear base. I have on two coats of the glitter in the pictures, and it feels like the perfect amount to me. Since I had to wear this over something, I thought that Claire was a fun base color. Here are some pictures of Claire alone.

Claire is a lovely creme blue polish and one of my favorite (out of 3) Julep polishes that I own. lol. 

I am going to have so much fun swatching these polishes for you all over the upcoming weeks.
