Twinsie Tuesday: I keep meaning to...

For this Tuesday's theme, the Twinsies are creating looks that have been on our "to-do" list. Earlier in the year there was a "Bubbles" theme for the ladies which I was unable to participate in, so this week was the perfect time to try bubbles!

Polishes Used:
-Morgan Taylor - Supreme in Green
-IMN Northern Lights
-Acrylic Paints

I was surprised how time consuming this technique really was; but it could have also been because I don't have a lot of acrylic paints or brushes which the technique calls for. I used bright pink, light pink and white paints but I think that the light pink got lost against the other colors. I'll probably try this technique again with different colors and better brushes :)

I can't wait to see what other ladies have been meaning to do!

Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired by a Family Member

I have only been a part of the Twinsie group since the beginning of the year and I already feel like I know a lot about these ladies and I love that!

This week's theme is Inspired by a Family Member. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to do but while looking through my stamping plates, it hit me! Makeup! My mom sells Mary Kay and my sister is really into doing makeup and loves all the latest products.

So here is my look,

Polishes Used:
-Nicole by OPI - Challenge  Red-y
-OPI - Kiss Me on my Tulips
-Konad - White
-Out The Door - Northern Lights
-Bundle Monster Plate - BM-303

For this look, I started with a base of Challenge Red-y and then added the Kiss Me on my Tulips via the Saran Wrap Method, this created a little bit of dimension in the base before my stamping. Once that was dry I stamped on some lips and lipstick to represent the MAKEUP. Finally, I added Northern Lights to give a glitter to look which represented to me glitter is lip-gloss, eye shadow, etc.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Technique Month - Week 1

This month's theme in the Nail Challenge Collaborative is "Technique". This theme is open to interpretation, you can use one of your favorite techniques, try some you haven't tried or even make one up!

The technique that I decided to use for this week's post is... SPONGING.

Polishes Used:
-OPI - My Boyfriend Scales Walls
-China Glaze - That's Shore Bright
-China Glaze - Bottoms Up
-China Glaze - Sun of a Peach
-Northern Lights

This give a fun look and is super simple to create; now that I'm thinking about it, I should have done a little tutorial for it. Ever since I did the tutorial for Karine (you can see it here) I have been thinking of making more (would anyone be interested in that?). Anyway, I simply started with my white base and then sponged on random "splotches" of the purple, pink and orange tones. Since I used the Sunsational creams for this mani, the neon didn't really seem to come through in the pictures but I really liked wearing this. Tip: If you decide to do a simple sponge mani, it's important not to use sheer colors or else you will end up having to do tons of layers.

Crumpet's Nail Tarts: Tri-Polish Challenge

Welcome to the second August Tri-Polish Challenge mani. I am still not a fan of the colors so I am feeling less than inspired. Therefore, I went with a simple look.

I used the yellow (Color Club - Almost Famous) and red (OPI - On Collins Ave) for this mani. I also added in a little bit of Sally Hansen - White On and a top coat of Northern Lights. What do you think of this mani? I still can't get on board with the color scheme.

Crumpet's Nail Tarts: Tri-Polish Challenge

Happy Final Day of the July Tri-Polish Challenge! I always run into road-blocks by the 4th challenge. LOL. Anyway, today since the colors lended themselves to it, I have decided to go with Galaxy Nails.

It's a very simple mani. I simply started with my darker blue, sponged on some white, green and lighter blue, added the white dots and topped it off with a coat of Northern Lights. :) Easy Peasy!

Do any of the other ladies participating in TPC have the same issue of running out of ideas by day 4? The one thing that helps is seeing all the other pretty mani's that the lovely ladies have done and using those for inspiration. Make sure you check them out!

Liquid Lacquer - Honey Mustard

Hello Loves!

I did this mani before I went to Belgium and filed all my nails down to nubs :( Sad Face!

Anyway, I picked up this polish from a blog-sale and am glad that I added it to my collection. It is a "mustard yellow" shade.

Polishes Used:
-Liquid Lacquer - Honey Mustard
-Northern Lights

Honey Mustard is a light holo polish but I added a little extra sparkle with Northern Lights. I have really been digging all yellow polishes lately. Although some of my colleagues didn't like this shade,  I still do.

Summer Mani Challenge - Summer Stamp

I am one date late with this Summer Mani Challenge Post. This week's theme is Summer Stamp. Unfortunately I did this after I came home from my trip and I had to file down all my nails to little nubs, to top it off I got a cut on my middle finger so pretty much my nails look a hot mess at the moment.

Other than my little mess of nubs, I actually like this design. I think that it's fun and summery and really very easy to do. Just a little stamping and addition of a couple dots here and there.

Summer Mani Challenge - Summer Floral

Keeping up with the Summer Mani Challenge, this week's theme is Summer Floral. I was really looking forward to this theme because I generally like doing floral mani's. However, since I ran out of time before I left on my business trip out of the country, my mani isn't exactly what I had hoped. lol.

-Essence - Black is Back
-Konad - Yellow
-Konad - Pink
-Northern Lights

I received the GMT polish recently as part of a giveaway, I will be doing a review of the entire collection that I got shortly but I wanted to try them out, so I decided to use Can I Walk You Home as a base. It wasn't very summery, but why not just add some dark flowers to it to make it even less summery (sarcasm). And since it already looks like this, pink dots can't hurt right?

haha - so everyone has a nail fail now and then when you're in a hurry. I really hope that once things slow down for me in July (my summer travel will be over) that I will be able to try out a couple really neat designs I have been seeing lately.

Summer Mani Challenge - Yellow Polka Dot Bikini

I have decided to participate in another summer challenge with some of my fellow East Coast nail polish lovers :)

The first theme is Yellow Polka Dot Bikini:

So this probably isn't exactly what your typical yellow polka dot bikini looks like but I wanted to do something a little different, fancier.

This is actaully the first time that I have worn this yellow as a base on any mani, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but it's not actually too bad.

I was going for a bit of a space / galaxy look here; but also was sort of lazy. I like the look of this, and I wasn't sure sure which nails I liked the better, the accent with the white stars or the rest with the blue. Which is your favorite?
