The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Tea Party - Look 4

I'm back today with my 4th and final August Tea Party look for the Nail Challenge Collaborative, and I am totally in love with this look!

I love this look! I feel like I finished strong this month. The color seem is cheery and the white dots on the yellow feels very country chic for a tea party. The purple flowers sort of remind me of lilac flowers that may be out at a tea party.

Twinsie Tuesday: Interlocking Design

As you know, yesterday my husband had his birthday and we went to the amusement park; it was high 60's low 70's for the temp and cloudy; the park wasn't too crowded and hardly had to wait in any lines, with the exception of one 10 minute shower, it was great!

So onto the look; this week's theme is Interlocking Design. I took a little creative freedom with this one, I'm sure if it's technically "interlocking" but it's close enough! It was inspired by @lilmissnails_ on Instagram, who was inspired by @nailedthepolish.

I love how simple this look was to create, and the colors sort of remind of watermelons or something. I think it may sort of qualify for interlocking right? The only thing that I didn't like was that I ended up putting a matte topcoat on it; also I waited what felt like 20 minutes and it still smudged up when I applied it.

I can't wait to see what the other ladies have come up with!

Twinsie Tuesday: Stripes

This week's Twinsie Tuesday theme is Stripes. I wasn't 100% sure what I was going to do for this look, until this past weekend when I wore a patriotic striped shirt and decided to re-create that pattern but with different colors.

The shirt had a nice freehand stripe look which I tried to re-create in this look; not worrying about straight lines, or things being even, it was free-ing and OCD'ing at the same time LOL.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Skittles - Week 4

I'm getting this final look just in the nick of time with 1 day to spare in May. I had been wanting to do this mani since Skittles was announced as the theme for the month.

Literal Skittle Nails! Skittles are one of my favorite candies and I love all flavors of them, my all time most favorite are the tropical skittles that come in the sky blue bag. They don't sell them at all stores, so when I see them I always grab a pack for myself :-P

I thought that these nails came out fun and doubled checked with my husband before posting them to see if they were recognizable or not, he said they were so I thought that was good. I don't LOVE the "S"'s that I did, I am never good with curved lines / letting with my current nail art brush, but I think the idea is conveyed.

Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired by your bag

Happy April First!! I can't believe it's already April.

This week's theme for the Twinsies is Inspired by your bag. I really love my bag, its a Kate Spade crossbody bag and it's perfect for my lifestyle.

This is the bag:

The inside of the bag has a black and white striped lining and I'm not sure if you can tell from the picture, but the accents/hardware is gold.

I really love how this came out! It is a simple yet classic look in my opinion. The accent nail representing the bag's lining and the gold stud representing the gold spade stud on the purse. (If only I had a spade shaped stud, I would've been in heaven)

Twinsie Tuesday: Winter to Spring Transition Polish

It's now Spring and the Twinsies are getting into the spirit with today's theme, Winter to Spring Transition Polish. I *think* this prompt was probably originally meant to be shades you can wear in winter and spring, but I put my own twist on it, and did some winter to spring nail art instead!

When I think of Winter to Spring I always think of Crocus'. I am always seeing these pretty purple flowers pop up in my yard through the snow and always think, "no, not yet, this is Pittsburgh, it's going to snow again", but they always seem to be OK. lol. I wanted the perfect purple accent color, so I mixed up Gothic Lolita and On A Trip and got the look I wanted (after I mixed them I realized I could have probably used KB Shimmer - The Grape Beyond, although that has the subtle blue shimmer, which I wasn't looking for).

So like I said, probably not what was meant by the theme, but I don't care, I LOVE this look!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Inspired By A Tutorial - Week 1

This month's theme in the Nail Challenge Collaborative in Inspired by a Tutorial. I voted for this theme, because there are so many pretty looks out there with tutorials that I always "pin", or "like", and think, I need to try that; so here is my opportunity.

For this first mani, I decided to follow this tutorial from Lunaloveschocolate on Instagram. While my look is a little different (she has nice long nails, so I sort of ran out of room) it definitely started out following the tutorial step for step.

When I started out I hadn't really expected this to be a bright pink and black look but that's sort of where it ended up; haha. Oh well. I think you can see how Luna's mani has inspired mine. (side note, I'm surprised how well this actually showed up as "neon" in my pictures, I usually have a hard time capturing neon)

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents - Inspired by Art - Week 2

Happy Saturday! It's a snowy Saturday in Pittsburgh and the US North East which unfortunately let me to cancel a trip to visit my friend Colleen and to see her new baby. :( Hopefully I will be able to make it out to see her within the next month.

For today's look I searched Pinterest for some artistic images (if you are having trouble finding inspiration, I highly recommend Pinterest; they have an entire Art category and I found a ton of ideas)

This was the perfect inspiration as the watercolors in the original piece depict such a lovely winter scene. My first thought was to create this look overtop of a textured base, but that didn't work out so well, so then I decided that mattifying the look would work just as well to give a nice finish and I was really pleased with the outcome. As I mentioned before, my freehand skills are not that great but a simple look like this was perfect for me.

I love how my look represents the original artwork. I can't wait to see what the other ladies have in store!

Crumpet's Nail Tarts Christmas Winter Challenge - Winter Nature

Happy Sunday!!! Today I am back with my second mani in the Crumpet's Nail Tarts Christmas Winter Challenge. This look is, Winter Nature.

I had something in mind for this look and I really love how it was executed on the nail :)

-Cheeky Jumbo Plate 6 - Happy Holidays

Originally I had planned on just doing gold trees overtop of a green base, however, I decided that adding the dark shimmerly blue with the green in a Saran Wrap mani would give more of the "at night" illusion to this look. Ulitmatley, after stamping I decided it would look good matte; and I loved how the final look turned out! Christmas Trees outside at night!

Falling For Nail Art Challenge: Cloudy Skies

Today's theme in the Falling for Nail Art Challenge is Cloudy Skies. Usually in Pittsburgh every fall day (and winter day, and spring day...) is cloudy but this season has been unusually sunny (aka not cloudy every day)

I knew I wanted to do something blue and gray for this look and this that the mani I created captures the theme perfectly.

Polished Used:

-China Glaze - Electric Beat
-Sinful Colors - Slate
-Konad - White
-MASH Plate 37
-Hard Candy - Matte-ly In Love

I started with the blue base of Electric Beat and added the gray Slate with the saran wrap technique. Once that dried, I stamped on the white clouds. Since cloudy days aren't normally shiny, I mattified this look and think it looks perfect like that.

Like I mentioned, this really captured what I was envisioning in my mind, what do you think? Does it look like a cloudy sky to you?
