Nail Art for Nubs Link-Up

First off, I want to say HAPPY 25th BIRTHDAY to my little sister! You saw a lovely post last week with a picture of my pretty little sister and I so everyone should wish Elizabeth a great day :)

I'm finally back with another Nail Art for Nubs Link-Up. I hadn't participated for a couple weeks but have been meaning to get back into the flow of it. Here is the look that I created for this week.

Polishes Used:
-GOSH - With a Twist
-OPI - My Vampire is Buff
-OPI - My Boyfriend Scales Walls
-Konad - Black
-Cheeky Jumbo Plate 1 - Viva Mexico

For this look, I started with a base of With a Twist, then I sponged on some random splotches of My Vampire is Buff and My Boyfriend Scales Walls. After letting that dry, I added the stamping using the special Konad Black polish and Viva Mexico plate from Cheeky.

I like this look because it was super simple to create but the design of the stamp gives it a really unique look. I only wish I was better at stamping straight because my stamping always seems to come out a little diagonally. I didn't add any topcoat to this look because I sort of liked the half shiny half dull look without topcoat.

Do you love this look? Hate it? Any suggestions for straighter stamping?

Make sure to check out what the other nubbinized ladies did this week.

Matching Manis!

Over the past weekend my husband was out of town so I had my sister over to hang out one evening. Of course I asked her if she wanted her nails done and surprisingly she said yes. I told her I would do any look she wanted, so she picked green, purple, and glitter mani with argyle accent nail.

Since I was feeling sisterly and had the whole night ahead of me, I decided to do a super similar mani but with a different accent nail. Here is my look!

Polishes Used:
-Essie - Absolutely Shore
-Sinful Colors -
-China Glaze - Gothic Lolita
-OPI - Fresh Frog of Bel Air
-Out The Door

On both my sister's mani and mine, I just freehanded the green and purple with my medium striper brush then went overtop that with the glitter.

Well we were having such a silly fun time that we called Brigitte from Color Me So Crazy down and she did a matching mani with us as well! (She lives in my neighborhood) Here is our trio picture:

As you can see, my sister and I are the pale ones, lol. I wouldn't have normally put this color combination together but it was fun doing something different and with Libby and Brigitte.

What do you think? Do you ever do matching manis?

Elle - Dancing Queen

My sister gave me my birthday gifts a couple of week's ago and she got me two, three packs of Elle nail polish. She also asked me to do her nails and picked out Dancing Queen from the new polishes. I actually really loved how it looked on her so I used it on myself too!

Polishes Used:
-Nail Tek II
-Elle - Dancing Queen
-HK Girl

I am wearing two coats of Dancing Queen here and it provided full coverage. This is a pretty light pink/green/gray durochrome, which I unfortunately didn't do too well in capturing with my pictures. The application was pretty nice with the Elle polish as well although with the finish of this shade you could see some brushstrokes, but nothing too crazy.

Do you own any Elle polishes? I am not sure where all you can purchase them, but I know my sister purchased the sets from Kohls :)

Sally Hansen - Salon Insta Gel Strips Review

Happy Saturday!

I recently received the Sally Hansen Salon Insta Gel Strips kit to review. I had been looking forward to trying this out for a while so I was excited when the package finally arrived.

Here is everything that I received; not only did they send the starter kit, but they also sent me a bonus shade as well :)

Here you can see both the bonus polish and the last picture shows you everything that comes in the starter kit.

The instructions are very simple, buff and clean your nails, apply the polish strips, top with gel topcoat, cure with the LED provided, wipe with cleaner, and VIOLA, you're good to go! (Obviously, the instructions in the box are much more detailed but you get the jist of it)

Since I received two shades I decided I would try one on myself and one on my sister.

Here is Shall We Dance modeled by my sister, Libby:

As you can see, Shall We Dance is a lovely sheer/nude shade, this is great for everyone who doesn't like to wear anything too flashy on their nails. We loved how clean and glossy Libby's nails looked after she had these on. They were also easy for me to apply on her.

Here I am showing you Pat on the Black:

First off, I love this dark vampy shade. I don't think that it is actually Black but a super dark purple because when I was applying the strips they had a purple tint when held up to the light. I found that applying the strips on my own nails was slightly harder than doing them on my sisters because I only had one hand to do it with. Also, one thing that I noticed was that the gel strips *seemed* thicker and less malleable than the normal polish strips so I ended up with some wrinkles and tearing when I filed them, but most of this was masked when I applied the gel topcoat.

Overall, I like the idea of having gel polish strips. This would be very beneficial for someone who doesn't have the time to paint their nails; or just doesn't want to have to worry about chipping polish. I only wore these strips for 4 days but I didn't really notice any signs of wear. I only took them off because 4 days is a long time for me, since I normally change my polish at least everyday.

You can purchase these strips at your local drug and super stores.

What I Actually Wore on NYE

Hey Lovelies!

I hope you're all settling back into your routines of school, work, whatever. I am. Today I am going to show you the mani that I actually wore on NYE. I have to say I think that my friends were a little disappointed because they wanted to see this mani in person, but oh well. This was a super sparkly and fun look.

Polishes Used:
-Sation - Miss Emo Shun All
-Amy's Nail Boutique - Ecopolo
-Gelous
-OTD

This lovely glitter polish is a custom glitter that Amy made available to the girls in one of my East Coast nail polish groups. It is jam packed with pink, purple, and blue glitters in numerous shapes and sizes as well as some awesome almost holo shimmer in there. Isn't this polish gorgeous!? This polish isn't for sale, but all of Amy's creations are great, and you can get them at her Etsy Store.

So since I told you all about my plans to attend the NYE Party Gras event, I figured I would share some photos from it with you.

First, I made my own mask for the party with some supplies that I got from Michaels. I really like this mask its very me.

Also, here are some pictures from the night! (Sorry for the picture quality but they were off my phone)

My Sisters Nails

This weekend I got together with my mom and sister and will be posting their nails today and tomorrow. I apologize ahead of time as the photos are not super clear because I only had my iphone with me. Here you go!

Polishes Used:
-Sally Hansen - Lacey Lilac (2 coats)
-Wet 'n Wild coloricon - Bow In My Presence (1 coat)
-Out The Door TopCoat

I had just bought Bow In My Presence earlier this week and wanted to try it out so I let her pick a color she would like it over top of and she picked one of my favorite springtime colors, Lacey Lilac. I really like BIMP (lol) and I think it would be opaque on it's own in 3 coats. I plan to try it on myself later this week. I like the application of it as well so I will most likely be going back to Rite-Aid later this week to pick up some more of the Coloricon collection.

Happy Monday!
